School Holiday in Pune on January 23, 2026? Know Why Schools Will Remain Closed After 12 Noon

Pune District Magistrate has ordered the closure of all schools, including primary, secondary, added, non-added, private and government within the municipal limits after 12 noon on Friday, January 23, 2026. The decision has been taken in view of the fourth leg of the Pune Grand Challenge Tour 2026 international cycling competition. 

The municipal administration has clarified that schools are permitted to remain open before 12 noon. The fourth leg of the Pune Grand Challenge Tour 2026 will be held tomorrow. In line with the event, all government and private schools within the limits of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) will remain open until 12 noon and will be closed thereafter. The order has been issued by the District Collector and Chairman of the District Disaster Management Authority, Jitendra Dudi.

The fourth stage of the competition will be organised between Balewadi and Balgandharva Rangmandir, covering a total distance of 58 km. According to the order, the decision has been taken to avoid traffic congestion in Pune city and to prevent inconvenience to students.
