His boundary-line catch, followed by a smart throw to teammate Shivam Dube to complete the dismissal, became a major talking point.

Earlier in the match, Patel also produced a sensational diving catch to remove England captain Harry Brook and another sharp catch to dismiss opener Phil Salt. He complemented his fielding heroics with a wicket, bowling Tom Banton in the middle overs.

Despite England’s strong fight, led by a century from Jacob Bethell, India held on to win by seven runs and advance to the final of the tournament.
