Thane Accident: Truck Carrying Oxygen Cylinders Overturns on Pothole-Ridden Bhiwandi-Wada Highway

Thane, Maharashtra (Saturday, March 21, 2026): A truck carrying oxygen cylinders overturned on the Bhiwandi-Wada highway on Saturday, leaving the driver seriously injured. The accident occurred near Dugad Phata, where ongoing roadwork and large potholes have led to a series of mishaps in recent weeks.

According to the reports, the truck lost balance while passing through a stretch affected by excavation and uneven road conditions due to incomplete concretization work. It veered off the road and overturned. The driver sustained serious injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Officials said there was no explosion from the oxygen cylinders, averting a potentially major disaster.

Accidents have been increasing on the highway due to poor road conditions and incomplete construction work. Local residents have repeatedly raised concerns, but the situation has not improved.

Police reached the spot soon after the incident, and efforts are underway to remove the overturned truck using a crane.
