Thane: Summer Heat Causes Water Storage Tank Explosion in Ulhasnagar's Camp 4
A plastic water storage tank installed near an electric borewell pump at Camp No. 4, near Daha Chawl Nalanda School in Ulhasnagar, reportedly burst due to extreme summer heat, causing inconvenience to local residents. The tank had been placed by the municipal corporation to ensure a steady water supply for citizens in the area. With temperatures rising sharply, the old plastic tank allegedly cracked and exploded after becoming completely filled with water. Residents have now urged civic authorities to immediately replace the damaged tank with a new one so that people in the locality do not face disruptions in their daily water supply during the ongoing heatwave conditions.
To address recurring water shortage issues in Ulhasnagar, the municipal corporation had earlier installed several borewells along with electric water pumps and plastic storage tanks in different neighbourhoods. However, many of these tanks have reportedly become old, weak, and unsafe over time, raising concerns among locals. The recent incident near Nalanda School has intensified demands for urgent maintenance and replacement of outdated water storage systems across the city. Social worker Prashant Chandanshiv stated that local residents are requesting civic officials to install a new tank at the earliest to prevent further inconvenience and ensure uninterrupted water availability for families living in the area.
