Aurangabad, June 5:Searching for the contact number on social media and calling to place an order for food Thali proved dearer to a city entrepreneur as he lost Rs 1.50 lakh in the cybercrime. The accused contacted the victim and told him to transfer Rs 10 online through a debit card to accept the order and then told him to download AnyDesk app on his mobile to refund the money.According to complainant Rishikesh Mohan Chavan (resident of Indraprasth Society, Garkheda), he has a bio-fertiliser plant in Basmat (in Parbhani) but is staying in Aurangabad for the past many months. On June 4, he searched social media (Facebook) to get the contact number of Bhoj Thali and then contacted the number to place the order. The call was not received, but he received a call from an unknown number, after few minutes. The caller after the conversation told Chavan to send Rs 10 through debit card as it is a formality while accepting the order and also told him that he will get the refund soon. Chavan then transferred Rs 10 online. The caller contacted him saying to share the two OTPs sent on your number so as to refund your money. Chavan shared the OTP and was shocked after he received three messages withdrawing Rs 20,100; Rs 25977 and Rs 49,999 from his bank account. He immediately contacted the unknown caller, who convinced him that it has been done by mistake and assured him of returning the money back. As a formality, he told Chavan to download AnyDesk App on the mobile. The cheater again withdrew money from his account. Hence, Chavan contacted the Cyber Cell and Pundaliknagar police station. Later on, police suggested Chavan to delete the AnyDesk App immediately.BoxxxxxxChavan receives a call todayThe accused learned about the balance money in Chavan's bank account. As a result, he contacted the entrepreneur and assured him of returning the money. He again insisted to download the AnyDesk App, but Chavan refused to do so. Later on, the accused contacted Chavan again from a new number and claimed that he is a bank officer and we had sent the OTP on your mobile number. If you shared the OTP with us you will get your money back. However, Chavan did not entertain him.
