16 people defrauded of Rs 3 crore by “Chit Fund” Scheme

A major fraud has come to light in which Women and son, through a “bishi” (chit fund), lured people with the promise of high returns and cheated 16 individuals of a total Rs 2.99 crore. The case has been registered at Mukundwadi Police Station.

The accused have been identified as Nandabai Adhude (45) and her son Saurabh Adhude (21), both residents of Venkatesh Park, Beed Bypass, originally from Ghansavangi. Mukundwadi Police Inspector Sachin Ingole stated that both have been remanded to police custody until February 3.

According to complainant Jayshree Giri (Mukundwadi), Nandabai Adhude had been running a “bishi” since 2014-18. Initially, she repaid small amounts on time, earning the trust of women investors. In November 2022, she started a larger bishi of Rs 12 lakh. Giri invested Rs 50,000 monthly for 20 months, totaling Rs 10 lakh. Together with a previous Rs 10 lakh, Giri’s total investment reached Rs 20 lakh. From 2018 to July 2025, My-Lek allegedly defrauded more than 16 people, collecting Rs 2.99 crore. After the maturity period, the accused avoided repayment. Upon realizing the fraud, Giri and others approached the police. The fraud amount may increase. assistant police inspector Sanjay Bahure is investigating. The victims of the Women Son fraud include Jayshree Giri, who was cheated of Rs 20 lakh; Prakash Ranmode – Rs14 lakh; Namita Bendre – Rs 17.5 lakh; Vilas Mane – Rs 30 lakh; Nanda Bendre – Rs 15.5 lakh; Chand Pathan – Rs 8 lakh; Savitri Aghav – Rs 19.8 lakh; Jyoti Gholap – Rs 2.7 lakh; Chhaya Chavan – Rs 7.9 lakh; Jija Kale – Rs 6.5 lakh; Gulab Rathod – Rs 15.5 lakh; Kamalabai Surse – Rs 21.5 lakh; Ranjana Aghav – Rs 16.2 lakh; Sapna Markad – Rs 50 lakh; Meera Falke – Rs 50 lakh; and Ram Ghayal – Rs 4 lakh. Of the total amount defrauded, Rs 6.99 lakh was collected online, while Rs 2.92 crore was taken in cash by Nandabai and Saurabh Adhude.
