2 lakh vehicle owners in district ignore ‘High Security’ plates

Out of 9.54 lakh vehicles registered in the district before April 2019, only 3.52 lakh have been fitted with ‘High Security Registration Plates’ (HSRP). Meanwhile, 3.94 lakh vehicle owners have registered online for these number plates. Around 2 lakh vehicle owners have so far ignored the requirement.
The deadline for installing HSRP was extended four times, with the final date set as December 31. Vehicle owners were awaiting either another extension or the start of enforcement from the new year. However, the deadline has passed, and no new extension has been announced, nor has any action been taken against defaulters.

Number of vehicles with HSRP:
As of now, 3,52,409 vehicles registered before April 1, 2019, have HSRP plates installed, while 3,94,194 owners have registered online. A total of 2,07,397 vehicle owners have ignored fitting the plates.

Officials urge installation:
Vehicle owners in the district are advised to get the ‘High Security Registration Plate’ installed. Several centers have been set up across the district for this purpose.
