Passengers bound for the Mahakumbh faced severe inconvenience as the South Central Railway delayed a special train by an astonishing 22 hours, forcing many to cancel their journey. To make matters worse, the train arrived at Platform No. 4, which lacked adequate sheds, leaving travelers scrambling for shade for nearly two hours.

Repeated schedule changes add to passenger woes

The train was initially set to depart at 7 pm on Wednesday, but railway authorities rescheduled it twice just hours before departure. The revised schedule stated that the train would arrive at 3 pm on Thursday, prompting passengers to assemble at Platform No. 4. However, it only arrived at 5 pm,, adding to their frustration. With no proper seating or shelter, passengers sought shade near a stationary Dadara train and the locomotive, enduring the heat. The ordeal didn’t end there—despite arriving late, the train was further delayed by 50 minutes and finally departed at 5.50 pm.

453 passengers depart, many cancel trips

Sources revealed that the delay stemmed from the unavailability of a ‘rack’ for the special train, disrupting its schedule. Ultimately, 453 passengers boarded the train, but a significant number canceled their travel plans due to the prolonged uncertainty
