Aurangabad, Oct 15:

Nearly 450 officers and employees of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University (Bamu) will be befitted from the recommendations of the Seventh Pay Commission from November 1, 2020.

It may be noted that Maharashtra University and College Employees Action Committee (MUCEAC), which represents non-teaching staff members of all the non-agriculture universities and colleges of the State had staged pen-down agitation between September 24 and 30 for their different demands including implementation of recommendations of Seventh Pay Commission and time-bound promotion. The benefits of the new pay commission was already given to the teachers, but, non-teaching staff were deprived of it as there were some court cases.

All the university employees, including BAMU participated in the agitation. They had also warned of intensifying agitation from October 1. It has affected the examinations work in all the universities and colleges.

However, Higher and Technical Education Minister Vijay Samant assured the agitators on October 1 to look into their demands.

The Government approved the proposal of providing a revised payscale from November 1, 2020. Those employees whose scale was correct in Fifth and Sixth Pay Commissions will be eligible for the benefits.

Around 450 officers and employees from BAMU will get the revised pay scale as per the recommendations of the new pay commission.
