Aurangabad, June 25:

The vaccination drive for citizens of age 18 years and above is receiving overwhelming response in the city as a total of 60,000 youths had been vaccinated in the last five days. Meanwhile, the Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has completed the figure of vaccinating 4 lakh citizens, today (June 25).

Acting upon the orders of the union Government, the AMC started the vaccination drive with all preparations from June 22 through 69 vaccination centres. Presently, it is vaccinating between 12,000 and 14,000 citizens daily. Presently, 200 vaccination is given at each centre. There is an on-the-spot registration facility. This has attracted the rush of youngsters at the centres. Meanwhile, the rush of citizens for the second dose is also seen at many centres, these days.

It may be noted that the AMC had vaccinated 3.39 lakh citizens (of various age groups) till June 20. It includes the first dose of 27,301 citizens of age 18 to 44 years. The vaccination figure scaled up to 3.93 lakh including 76,765 youngsters till June 24. Meanwhile, the health section today informed of administering vaccines to more than 14,000 citizens of age 18 and above. Hence the figure of 4 lakh vaccinated citizens got completed today.

It may be noted that the AMC has completed the figure of one lakh vaccinated citizens on April 1, two lakhs on April 24, three lakhs on May 29 and four lakhs on June 25.

Vaccination camps in housing societies

To speed up the vaccination drive for youngsters, the AMC has decided to hold vaccination camps in the housing societies. The health section has formed mobile teams. However, the AMC will deploy mobile teams for the camp only if the housing society submits a list of 200 beneficiaries.
