Aurangabad, Oct 22:

In the last two months, experts from Delhi and Hyderabad have provided guidance on the treatment of 95 critically ill patients of Covid-19 at the District Civil Hospital (DCH) through tele-ICU. According to the hospital administration, 90 per cent of the patients have recovered.

The tele-ICU service was started on August 26 for the treatment of critically ill patients of Covid-19 at the DCH. The service was inaugurated by health minister Rajesh Tope. Through tele-ICU, monitoring was started by experts from Delhi, Bangalore and Hyderabad. The hospital doctors are being guided by these experts through online videos on how to treat critically ill patients. Accordingly, the doctors here are treating the patients.

District surgeon Dr Sundar Kulkarni is also guiding the doctors. Additional district surgeon Dr Kamlakar Mudkhedkar said, "So far 95 patients have benefited from the tele-ICU service and 90 per cent of the patients these patients were cured." There are eight ICU beds in the district hospital. If the number of ICU beds had been higher, more patients would have benefited from tele-ICU, experts say.
