Alertness of cops helps save woman on platform

In a bizarre incident, two women had a narrow escape from the jaws of death while attempting to disembark from a moving train at the railway station on Wednesday at 9.30 am. Of these, one woman was about to fall in the gap between the train and the platform. However, due to the quick action of passengers and railway police, she was safely rescued.

It so happened that many relatives had come to the railway station to bid farewell to passengers travelling on the Jan Shatabdi Express to Mumbai. The train was set to depart at 9.25 am. Two women, who had come to see off their relatives, boarded the train. When they realised the train was about to leave, they rushed to get down from the train. The train started chugging. One of them barely managed to jump out of the train's door. In the process, she lost her balance and fell onto the platform. Immediately after, within 3 seconds, the second woman attempted to disembark from the moving train. She also lost her balance and for a moment, was hanging from the train's door before falling.

Just as the woman was about to fall between the train and the platform, Government Railway Police (GRP) station’s amaldar Dnyaneshwar Kshirsagar and Ashruba Gejage, who were on patrol, along with some passengers, quickly rushed to her aid and pulled her aside. As a result, the woman was saved. GRP inspector Sharad Jogdand and API Ganesh Dalvi praised the promptness shown by the two khaki personnel.
