Alliance suspense over ZP co-opted seats

Uncertainty continues over possible alliances in the selection of co-opted members in the Zilla Parishad, keeping political equations under close watch.
As per the government formula, six co-opted members will be appointed in the 63-member house (10 per cent representation). The district collector holds the authority for final selection, based on party strength and local recommendations.
At present, the BJP has 23 members, along with 2 independents and 1 Congress member, taking its tally to 26. With 4 NCP (Ajit Pawar faction) members, the total rises to 30, giving BJP a likely three seats. The Shinde-led Shiv Sena has 21 members plus 1 independent (22 total), likely securing two seats. The Shiv Sena (UBT) has 9 members and may get one seat if it contests independently, though alliances could change the equation. While the formula has been finalised, no formal process has begun yet. The district collector is expected to take a decision next week.
