Aurangabad, April 12:

The Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has today distributed a festival advance of Rs 2.5 crore to its Class IVth employees on account of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Anniversary. The AMC released Rs 12,500 each to 2,000 employees, said the chief accounts officer Sanjay Pawar adding that the money is given from the AMC fund.

It so happened that the AMC had not received its GST share, of March, from the state government. The civic administration was hoping to receive it today but had not. The anniversary is on April 14; therefore, the AMC paid the festival advance from its reserve fund. Moreover, due to the delay in getting the GST share, the AMC had not released the monthly salaries of its employees (of March to be paid in April).

Meanwhile, it is hoped that the share would receive after April 15 as the banks are closed on Tuesday and Wednesday.
