Aurangabad, March 30:

The administration of Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has set up separate squads to carry out COVID test of workers from MIDC Chikalthana and Railway Station industrial estates and patients relatives in nine zones of the city.

The AMC has set the target of 10,000 daily tests because of the rise in COVID patients.

The local administration has issued orders to carry out maximum daily tests, specially of those who come in contact with positive patients.

A total of 36 squads were set up to conduct antigen and RT-PCR tests. The number of squads will be increased. AMC incharge health officer Dr Balkrishna Rathodkar said that one team in Chikalthana and Railway Station industrial estates was formed. The team will conduct the test and tracing of patients' relatives. The squads started working on Tuesday.

The nine zone teams will work under zone officers. The health officer will send the squads in the areas with a large number of patients or where he wishes to increase the test of residents. This will help in the detection of those who come in contact with the patients.

Dr Rathodkar said that the antigen tests which were carried out at the district collectorate, divisional commissioner office, AMC, police commissioner office and Regional Transport Office (RTO) would be stopped because of lockdown.
