Aurangabad, April 2:

The Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has set a target of conducting at least 10,000 tests daily. To meet the target, the AMC's health section has purchased 2.50 lakh antigen kits recently. It may be noted that the AMC, on Thursday, had conducted testing on 4,500 citizens.

According to the civic health section, the AMC administrator A K Pandey has ordered them to focus also on vaccination, apart from testing, to prevent the spread of Coronavirus in the city. Hence the mega drive to conduct testing as well as giving vaccination to the citizens will be undertaken simultaneously, soon.

It is learnt that one lakh antigen kits were lying in the stock. Hence with the purchase of new kits, there are 3.50 lakh antigen test kits available in AMC's stock. It is learnt that the AMC will provide some kits to Zilla Parishad and some to the District Civil Hospital (DCH) on demand.

The AMC also has a stock of 1 lakh RT-PCR test kits. As the stocks of both type of kits are available in adequate quantity, the ratio of testing will be increased and it would help prevent the spreading of Covid-19 in the city, hoped the health officials.
