Aurangabad, May 31: The Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has decided to buy 7,000 cots by spending an amount of Rs 2 crore as part of the preparation to fight the possible third wave of Covid-19.

Municipal administrator Astik Kumar Pandey recently gave his assent for the proposal which envisages buying cots in phases as per need.

Though the number of Covid-19 cases are under control in the city currently, a huge surge of cases was experienced during the second wave that began in February. The administration had tough time in making arrangement of treatment. Against this background, the AMC has decided to purchase cots.

Initially, 5000 cots were to be purchases at Rs 2,890 each at an expenditure of Rs 1.44 crore. However, the revised proposal of Rs 2.02 crore was made for purchasing 7,000 cots. The money will be made available the state emergency management funds that AMC will get from the state government.
