Aurangabad, Feb 12:

The Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) administrator A K Pandey today has underlined that the talks between the civic administration and the Tata Power are going on to start ten electric vehicles (EV) charging stations in the city.

Meanwhile, to promote the utility of EVs in the city, the charging facility will be free of cost to the citizens for the first three months after starting of the stations.

To reduce the pollution and cut the dependency on traditional fuel (petrol and diesel), the union Government is promoting the usage of EVs and the construction of charging stations in 25 cities including metros had been started in the country. Adding to the woes, the prices of fuel are also increasing frequently. Hence EVs has become a need of the hour.

The charging stations are being constructed on a gap of every three km in Delhi. In Maharashtra, the auto-rickshaw charging station got started in Thane city on Friday.

Accordingly, the AMC geared up to start ten stations in Aurangabad-the capital of Marathwada- on the instructions of the state environment minister Aditya Thackeray and under the guidance of the industries and guardian minister Subhash Desai.

" The Tatas had given the consent, and the AMC will be signing an agreement with them soon," said Pandey.

The AMC has launched a search for suitable land for ten charging stations and would be finalised on priority, it is learnt.
