Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:

Considering the sharp rise in mercury levels, the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has arranged drinking water facilities for tourists visiting the world heritage Ajanta Caves.

The ASI sub-circle has installed four water coolers – one each near the booking counter and at Cave Numbers 15, 24, and 4. The availability of chilled drinking water amid the scorching heat has come as a major relief for visitors exploring the caves. Mobile signboards have also been placed at these locations to inform tourists about the drinking water facility.

ASI’s conservation assistant Manoj Pawar said that the soaring temperatures have become extremely difficult to bear in recent days, with the mercury hovering around 43–44 degrees celsius. In view of the intense heatwave conditions, the ASI has taken this initiative to ensure comfort and relief for visitors at the heritage site.
