Aurangpura vegetable market to open soon
Lokmat News Network
Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: The Aurangpura vegetable market, located in the city’s central area, is set to become operational within the next week. The BOT (Build-Operate-Transfer) project, which had been pending for the past 14 years, has now cleared major hurdles.
According to standing committee chairman Anil Makariye, the remaining issues related to the project have been resolved, and the CSMC estate section will soon allocate 150 platforms (raised plinths) to vegetable vendors. In addition, 34 shops will be allotted to former traders.
It may be noted that two weeks ago mayor Sameer Rajurkar, Makariye, and commissioner Amol Yedge held a joint inspection. Instructions were given to complete the remaining work, obtain the occupancy certificate for the BOT project, and commence operations of the vegetable market.
Following this, deputy commissioner Aparna Thete and estate officer Sanjay Chamle completed the necessary contractual and planning formalities.
Makariye said that reopening the market is essential to provide better facilities to citizens. He further said that priority will be given to earlier vegetable vendors while allotting platforms (otas). Shop allotments will also be made in accordance with court orders. The market is expected to start functioning within a week.
