Biker killed in accident near Chhawani Flyover; Truck driver in police custody

A fatal road accident occurred around 10.30 pm on Thursday near the Chhawani railway flyover on the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar–Pune highway. A motorcyclist was killed on the spot after being run over by a truck. A case has been registered at Chhavani police station.

According to police sources, the motorcycle (MH-26-C-0994) was hit by a truck (MH-12-KP-8322) soon after crossing the flyover. The impact was severe, and the rider, identified as Dhanraj Namdev Chavan, was crushed under the truck, leading to his instant death. Following the accident, the truck driver allegedly attempted to flee towards Pune. However, Waluj police chased the vehicle and took both the truck and the driver into custody. The arrested driver has been identified as Sandeep Gardade. Further investigation is underway.
