Voting for the Maharashtra Medical Council elections was held on Sunday from 8 am to 5 pm at the Government medical college and hospital (GMCH) .The city recorded a turnout of just 21.62 per cent. While other parties largely stayed away from the election, the BJP actively participated and extended support to certain candidates.

A total of 4,778 voters were eligible to vote in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar district. Each voter had the right to cast up to nine votes. Across the state, 60 candidates were in the fray. From Sambhajinagar, Dr Ujjwala Dahiphale, Dr Amol Annadate, and Dr Anil Joshi contested the election. Seven booths were set up at GMCH. Out of 4,778 voters, 1,033 doctors exercised their franchise, resulting in a 21.62 per cent turnout. The polling process was conducted smoothly under the guidance of sub-divisional officer Sangeeta Rathod and nodal officer Dr Bharat Sonawane, with the support of 42 staff members.

BJP workers and office-bearers remained stationed in the GMCH area. By 2 pm, 13.92 per cent voting had been recorded. Candidates made special efforts to increase voter turnout, reaching out to doctors and urging them to vote. However, despite these efforts, the turnout remained limited, sparking discussions at various levels.
