Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: The brakes of an Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) bus travelling from Bhusawal to Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar suddenly failed near Sawangi toll plaza on the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar–Jalgaon route at 2.30 pm on Tuesday.

Realising that the brakes were not working, the driver showed remarkable presence of mind by steering the bus onto a small mound of soil on the roadside to reduce its speed and then moving it into an open area off the road. Thanks to the driver’s quick action, the lives of nearly 50 passengers were saved.

According to available information, the MSRTC bus bearing number (MH 09 EM 2575) was travelling from Bhusawal to Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar with around 50 passengers on board. As the bus approached the Sawangi toll plaza area, the driver noticed that the brakes had suddenly failed.

Since traffic on the highway was heavy, the situation created moments of panic and tension. Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident. After the mishap, the MSRTC administration arranged another bus for the passengers.
