Aurangabad, June 1:

MIDC Waluj police cracked down on shopkeepers in Waluj are who continued to run their shops without following restrictions. Cases have been registered against 7 shop owners, workers and customers at MIDC Waluj police station. Correspondence has been sent to the revenue department to seal these shops.

The administration banned the operation of shops other than essential services one and a half months ago. However, the police and the revenue administration had observed that many traders and commercial shops were still operating in the Waluj area. The revenue department had sealed nine shops in the Bajajnagar area a week ago. But even after this action, many traders continued doing business. Meanwhile, while patrolling Waluj police PI Madhukar Sawant, SI Preeti Phad on Monday found several shops open despite the lockdown. Cases have been filed against shop owners Anil Paraswani, Ashish Paraswani, Bhausaheb Shirsath, Avinash Rathod, Dnyaneshwar Kendra, Babasaheb Jadhav and Sameer Sheikh, 17 workers and 17 customers. A letter has also been sent to the revenue department asking them to seal the shops.
