An unidentified thief smashed the window of a car and stole Rs 4.90 lakh in cash kept inside by a trader who had stepped out to drink juice after withdrawing the money from a bank. The incident occurred near Shivur Bungalow on Friday around 4 pm. A case has been registered against an unknown accused at the Shivur police station.
According to police, Dilip Satalkar (42), a commission agent from Jiri village in Vaijapur taluka, had withdrawn Rs 4.90 lakh from the Bank of India branch at Shivur Bungalow in the afternoon. He kept the cash in a bag inside his car (MH-20-CS-2929) and parked it before going nearby to drink juice. Taking advantage of the situation, an unidentified thief broke the car window and fled with the cash. Realising the theft, Satalkar immediately approached the Shivur police station and lodged a complaint. The case is being investigated by PSI Ogle under the guidance of assistant police inspector Vaibhav Rankhamb.
