Aurangabad, May 9:

The citizens coming for vaccination have to suffer a lot as the number of vaccines provided by the central and state governments are proving to be insufficient. Therefore, only citizens between the ages of 18 and 44 will be vaccinated in the city on Monday. Vaccines are not available for senior citizens. On Sunday, the municipal corporation sent a vehicle to Pune to bring the vaccines. Further planning will be based on how many vaccines will be received.

Vaccination campaigns have come to a halt in some districts of the state due to shortage of vaccines. Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) had started a mega vaccination campaign. For this, vaccination centers were started in every ward. One lakh vaccines were demanded from the government every week, but the government started supplying only 25,000 to 30,000 vaccines. Hence the campaign is being implemented in a limited form by reducing the number of vaccination centers.

While giving information about the vaccination to be done on Monday, the municipal health officer Dr Nita Padalkar said that the AMC has vaccines for the age group of 18 to 44 years. There are 1500 doses of covishield vaccine and 3900 doses of covaxin vaccine. Vaccination will continue at Sadatnagar, Mukundwadi and Chetnanagar. At present the corporation does not have stock of vaccines for the age group of 45 to 60 years. Vehicle has been sent to Pune to bring vaccines.
