Aurangabad, June 21:

The Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) administrator A K Pandey today has hinted that at least 4 lakh citizens, who had not taken the vaccine and were safe till today, are likely to contract Coronavirus infection in the third wave. Hence citizens should take the vaccine in large numbers and save themselves from the Covid-19, suggested Pandey.

It may be noted that various platforms are hinting at the arrival of the third wave. When the civic chief was asked about the AMC's prediction and preparations made to tackle the situation, he said, " The second wave got mild in the city from June 1. There was the detection of 25 to 35 patients. A few days ago, the strengthen was 20 or less than it. However, a gradual increase in patients is being observed. The population of citizens above 18 years of age is 10 lakh. So far, 3.40 lakh citizens (including first dose and second dose) had taken the vaccine. One lakh citizens were infected with the Covid-19 and got recovered. Now the antibodies had been developed in them. Besides, there were 1.5 lakh asymptomatic Covid-19 patients. Hence, if we total all these figures, the antibodies have been developed in 6 lakh citizens. As a result, there are fewer chances of Covid-19 infection to them."

It is feared that the strength of patients would start increasing in August. Considering the possible third wave, the restrictions upon attendance of people in marriage functions, public functions or gatherings, or last rites is already underway. Earlier, the AMC's health section had appointed 750 personnel (in various categories) to fight against the Covid-19. Their services have been extended till August, said Pandey.
