Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: Following the municipal corporation elections held in January, complaints have been received by the civic administration against as many as 22 of the 115 elected corporators. The objections mainly relate to alleged illegal constructions, encroachments, and violation of the two-child norm.

The issues concerning illegal constructions and encroachments were verified by the Town Planning and Anti-Encroachment sections. However, it has come to light that the report has not yet reached municipal commissioner Amol Yedge, which has raised eyebrows. The opposition has questioned whether action will be taken irrespective of political affiliation.

Recently, the municipal corporation demolished three properties belonging to AIMIM corporator Matin Patel. Following this, the issue of complaints against other corporators has once again come into focus. On Thursday, corporators facing allegations were seen waiting in the municipal administration and officials’ offices.

According to sources within the civic body, complaints have been received against 22 corporators. These complaints have been categorised and forwarded to the relevant sections. Most of the allegations pertain to unauthorised constructions, encroachments, and violation of the two-child norm.

Report submitted by Town Planning section

More than six complaints related to unauthorised construction and encroachments were verified by the Town Planning section. However, the inspection report has still not reached the municipal commissioner. No notices have been issued to the concerned corporators so far.

Opposition parties have now raised questions about whether action will be taken against guilty corporators. Opposition leader Abdul Sameer has demanded that justice should be equal for all.

‘Report not received’

Municipal Commissioner Amol Yedge while speaking to the mediapersons said that he has not yet received the report regarding the complaints against corporators. He added that once the report is received, it will be examined and further action will be taken as per legal procedure and rules.
