Court award lifer to husband for killing wife on suspecting fidelity

Aurangabad, May 31:

The additional sessions court judge S G Giridhari today has awarded life imprisonment to Deepak Sopan Jogdand, on the charge of killing wife (Shilpa), suspecting her fidelity in 2017.

According to the complaint lodged by the deceased's brother Dnyaneshwar Mukunda Gaikwad with Waluj MIDC police station, the incident took place on the intervening night of February 21, 2017 (between 12 pm and 1 am). The accused Deepak was always doubting on the character of her sister. The couple was married five years ago and were having two daughters - Shravani (4 years) and Shivkanya (2 years).

The complainant and the accused, both were staying in Salampurenagar of Wadgaon Kolhati in Waluj MIDC jurisdiction. Deepak's parents were also staying in the same locality. The accused was a native of Purna (in Parbhani) and was earning his livelihood by working as a labourer. The accused told one of his relative to take away the girls outside the house and later on murdered his wife by strangulating.

The assistant public prosecutor Anil Hiwrale recorded the statements of 10 witnesses during the hearing. It includes doctor, medical report, complainant's witness, etc. On the basis of the statements and evidence, the court found him guilty under Section 302 of IPC and awarded the lifer. It may be noted that the accused is cooling his languishing in jail since the day of his arrest.
