Aurangabad, Feb 1:

The Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has sought an explanation from a private hospital's doctor for allegedly projecting his domestic help as a health worker for taking COVID vaccine during the first phase of the vaccination drive. Taking a serious cognizance, the civic administration has started an inquiry. The AMC also sought an explanation from the concerned private hospital in this regard.

It may be noted that the AMC is administering COVID vaccine to health care workers under Phase I of the vaccination drive. However, the newspaper today published news highlighting how a private doctor's domestic help was projected as a hospital employee (health care worker) and registered his name for taking the vaccine. There was online registration of 33,000 health care workers in the district. Meanwhile, the AMC has also communicated with the private city hospitals in this regard.

The municipal officer of health (MoH) Dr Neeta Padalkar said, " We have issued letters to all the hospitals warning them of action if found guilty in registration. The AMC also sought an explanation from Gade Hospital. We would verify the truth after going through the reply. The vaccine will be given to all, but in a phase-wise manner."
