Cyber shield workshop trains 240 police personnel in AI-Based cybercrime investigation

A total of 240 police officers and personnel from across the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Range have completed a two-day training on cybercrime investigation, digital evidence handling, and AI-based policing under the workshop “Cyber Shield – 2025.” Certificates were awarded on Tuesday, marking the successful completion of the session.
The workshop, held on April 8 and 9 at Ratnaprabha pawar auditorium, MASSIA, Chikalthana, was organized under the guidance of Special IG Virendra Mishra in collaboration with Nath School of Business and Technology and the Cyber Security Forum. Cybercrime experts Amit Dubey, Deepak Patel, Vijayant Gaur, and Amol Varade conducted training sessions on the latest threats like deepfake videos, crypto scams, AI tools in crime, and the use of Open Source Intelligence (OSINT).

The workshop covered various aspects such as types of cybercrimes with real case studies, emerging fraud trends like OTP scams, phishing, SIM swaps, loan app fraud, and QR code scams. It also focused on the use of AI and quantum computing in policing, data protection, basics of blockchain, cybersecurity practices for devices and social media, and techniques for collecting and presenting digital evidence in court. During the session, Virendra Mishra stressed the need for staying ahead of criminals by using AI tools in daily policing. He said the workshop aligns with the CM’s 100-day program for modernizing police operations using technology. Police oficers were also trained to raise public awareness and handle cyber fraud complaints more effectively. Citizens are advised not to click on unknown links or scan random QR codes, and to report cybercrime via www.cybercrime.gov.in or by calling 1930.
Participants included:
A total of 240 police personnel took part in the training, including 2 ASP, 1 Probationary DSP, 22 officers from the Cyber Police Station, 5 officials from the offices of Ad SPs, 21 officers from various sub-divisional units, 88 personnel representing each police station across the range, and 86 officers from the Cyber Police Station. The initiative was coordinated by SP Dr. Vinay kumar Rathod, Ad. SP Annapurna Singh, and a core team including DySP Vishnu Bhoye, Probationary DySP Mahadev Gomare, and officers Yogesh Dhonde, Jagdish Raut, Sachin Pandit, Komal Shinde, among others.
