Daily power chaos in summer
Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: People in the city and rural areas have been severely troubled by frequent power cuts throughout this summer. Residents across various parts of the city endured significant distress due to erratic electricity supply even on Sunday. Power disruptions are occurring every single day, prompting angry citizens to ask whether they will at least get uninterrupted electricity during the upcoming monsoon season.
Since April, incidents of repeated power supply disruptions have been on the rise. Citizens complain that electricity is being cut off for hours at some places, citing technical faults, while at others it is done under the pretext of maintenance and repairs. The electricity demand has surged due to increased use of ACs, coolers, and fans during the summer months. Adding to the crisis, ageing infrastructure and overloaded transformers are causing the supply system to collapse.
The situation is expected to worsen further during the monsoon, when snapping of wires due to falling tree branches and strong winds, along with frequent faults and tripping, become more common. Citizens fear that if the current state of affairs continues, the coming months could bring even greater hardship.
