Deadly attack repeated over case withdrawal in Jadhavwadi

A group of local miscreants allegedly launched another attack on a youth just 18 days after an earlier attempt to murder him, reportedly to pressure him to withdraw the case filed against them. The incident occurred around 10.30 pm on March 4 in Jadhavwadi, where the accused allegedly brandished knives and assaulted the complainant in the middle of the road.

The injured youth has been identified as Avinash Korde (23, Sambhaji Colony, Jadhavwadi). He was standing with his friend Pawan Tawar when the main accused Sunil Palhal and Vishal Bhosale arrived in a four-wheeler. They allegedly caught hold of Pawan and threatened them to withdraw the case filed against Arjun Pandhare, warning that they would kill both of them otherwise. Soon after, Vishal allegedly started beating them, while Sunil Palhal pulled out a knife and stabbed Avinash in the chest. As Avinash collapsed bleeding on the road, Palhal allegedly stabbed him again in the back. Seeing a crowd gather, the accused fled the spot in their car.

Cross complaints filed

Based on Avinash’s complaint, Harsul police registered a case of assault and attempt to murder against Sunil Palhal and Vishal Bhosale. Meanwhile, Vishal Bhosale also filed a counter-complaint, alleging that Pravin Thorat, Deepak Malode, Tanhaji Korde, and Pawan Tawar intercepted him in Jadhavwadi and assaulted him with an iron rod over a dispute during a procession event. A case has also been registered against the four.

Main accused arrested

Following the complaint, police sub-inspector Sachin Pagote traced and arrested Sunil Palhal. The court has remanded him to police custody till March 9. Police said the two groups had earlier clashed violently on February 16, when a case of attempt to murder was registered against Arjun Pandhare. The latest attack was allegedly carried out out of anger over that case.
