Aurangabad, June 5:

District collector Sunil Chavan today said that the decision on unlocking in Aurangabad district will be made on June 7, during the meeting of the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) through discussion.

It may be noted that the State Government has announced five-level unlock process and depending on the positivity rate and availability of oxygen beds district administration at the respective places was given right to announce measures from complete unlock to full restrictions.

Accordingly, the office-bearers and members of DDMA will be meeting on Sunday at 10 am under the chairmanship of the district collector.

The administration will analyse the impact of the second wave of Coronavirus in the district (including the city), the status of active patients, and ventilators (occupied and empty) apart from positivity rate and oxygen beds.

There are reports of the third wave in Ahmednagar, the neighbouring district of Aurangabad. Currently, the Covid situation of Aurangabad district is under control but we will have to remain alert. Hence, the final decision over granting relaxations will be taken unanimously by members after discussion in the meeting.

The number of Covid-19 patients is falling continuously in the last few days. During an announcement made in Mumbai, minister Vijay Wadettiwar had said that Aurangabad was among 18 districts which will witness complete unlock. However, he had to retract his statement later. Now, all eyes are on all-important meeting to be held tomorrow. Already, all essential and non-essential shops have been opened in the district. It remains to be seen what further concessions authorities will allow.
