Delhi airfare soars sky-high in Summer

Passengers flying from Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar to Delhi in May are feeling the financial strain as airfare prices have skyrocketed (as they have to book the tickets in advance). The fares for flights to Delhi in May have reached an all-time high, causing uproar among travellers and tour operators.

Air India’s flight from Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar to Delhi departs at 7.40 am, while IndiGo’s flight departs at 6.55 pm. Travellers are facing the brunt of the price hike in May. With school holidays in full swing, there’s a surge in the number of people travelling for tourism, which has led airlines to take advantage of the situation by hiking fares.

Rs 10,000

To travel to Delhi in May, air passengers will have to shell out at least Rs 10,000 for Air India and Rs 7,500 for IndiGo. The fares vary depending on the date. Besides, ticket prices for flights to Hyderabad, Mumbai, and Bengaluru are also being hiked without any regulation. Travel agents have reported that flights from Mumbai are consistently delayed, causing passengers to miss their international connections.

No leaders addressing the issue

Both airlines have closed cheaper booking classes and opened up expensive fare classes, taking advantage of the increased demand. There are only two flights to Delhi, and no leaders are speaking out about it. Due to the lack of regulation, airlines continue to benefit. The Travel Agents Association has raised several demands, including adjusting the timing of the Mumbai flight to an earlier time, adding an additional morning flight to Delhi, and introducing a flight to Ahmedabad, said Mangesh Kapote, President of Travel Agents Association of Aurangabad (TAAA).
