What begins as a routine late-night delivery is turning into a trap in parts of the city. After 11 pm, Sanjaynagar, Ramnagar and Samarthnagar have become fear zones for delivery partners, as repeated thefts, threats and parcel snatching force companies and workers to rethink night operations.
A Lokmat Times survey, based on interactions with over eight delivery companies and multiple delivery partners operating in city, found repeated theft incidents involving workers from platforms such as Swiggy, Zomato, Zepto and Domino’s. Delivery workers alleged that groups of local youngsters, sometimes armed with knives and swords, place small orders and snatch parcels upon arrival. Many victims avoid filing complaints due to fear of retaliation and loss of income. Delivery partners say the absence of consistent police patrolling has worsened their vulnerability, leaving them exposed to nightly risks while earning their livelihood.

Sanjaynagar blacklisted by some delivery firms due to rising threats. Youth in Samarth Nagar, Sanjay Nagar, and Ramnagar roam armed with knives, snatching orders from delivery boys. Incidents involve theft of parcels worth around Rs 500 or less, prompting safety concerns for riders.
