Desirous candidates deactivated themselves due to unpredictable AMC elections!
Aurangabad, Dec 1:
The general elections of Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) are assumed to be held in April 2021. However, it seems that the candidates, who are desirous of contesting the elections, are not believing it. Adding to the woes, the indication about the further delay in the election (from April as well), has disappointed these candidates. As a result, they are avoiding to visit the ward, from where they were planning to contest the election. They are also not maintaining public relations with the targetted people. Meanwhile, the sudden behaviour change had surprised the citizens, as these aspirants, was very much on heels and active in providing all sort of help to people during the lockdown period.
The second wave of Coronavirus had arrived in Delhi, and there is a rise in infected patients. Besides, it is unpredictable when would the petition, which is sub judice in the Supreme Court, would be finalised. Due to this confusing situation, more than 1,500 aspiring candidates have gone on backfoot and severed their communications with the residents of their ''target'' ward.
During the pandemic situation, these aspirants helped health administration in transporting the Covid-19 positive patients from home to the hospital and vice-versa. They unhesitantly and extended all help to the residents staying in their ''target'' wards during the lockdown period. Many of them maintained persuasion and through fire tender got sprayed disinfectant in the wards and on the roads. When these leaders learnt that the date of elections is going to postpone for an indefinite period since then the people are waiting to see them in their localities. It is now talk of each ward. Meanwhile, there are few, who continued to maintain their public relations by visiting their wards in hope to contest the election and gain mileage.
When contacted the AMC deputy commissioner (election) Sumant More said," The AMC administration had forwarded all the detail information to the lawyer to submit an affidavit in the Supreme Court regarding the petition filed challenging the elections. The petition is yet to come on the board for the hearing."
