A diesel supply tanker caught fire and was completely gutted in a major incident on Friday afternoon near the Samruddhi Expressway bridge on the Lasur Station–Devgaon road. Thick flames and smoke were visible from a distance. Fortunately, no casualties were reported.
The tanker (MH-20-EL-5880), operated as a doorstep diesel delivery vehicle for Mayuri Petrol Pump in Lasur Station, had gone to Malivadvgaon around noon to supply diesel. While returning, the vehicle suddenly caught fire at around 1.30 pm near the expressway bridge. Driver Balu Raut acted swiftly, abandoned the tanker, and moved to safety before alerting authorities. On receiving information, locals and police personnel, including Shashikant Deshmukh, Narayan Thole, Nitin Kanjune, Kunal Wagh, and officers from Shillagaon police station, rushed to assist. However, the tanker was completely destroyed before the fire brigade arrived at the spot.
