Aurangabad, April 28:

The district administration is providing Remdesivir injections for the survival of patients battling with Covid-19 in big private hospitals. The district collector Sunil Chavan has now decided to cross-check the supply of the injections and usage of the same by each hospital through an audit. The administration will also check whether the hospital had charged the patients for the injections in their discharge bills.

Presently, the injections are provided to the private hospitals by Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) office under the guidance of the district collectorate.

It may be noted that for the past four days the relatives of Covid-patients undergoing treatment in some private hospitals are making rounds of the district collectorate with prescriptions in their hands for the injections. They are not being given. It may be noted that the injection is supplied to the big Covid Hospitals by GMCH and DCH.

FDA officer Mahajan said, " The senior FDA officer Rajgopal Bajaj is verifying the demand list placed by the private hospitals for injections before the administration. The supply is made only after approval from the district collector. The administration is having doubt the injection is being misused by some private hospitals. Hence district administration has formed a committee to collect details from each hospital-like total injections supplied, usage of injections, number of doses given to each patient, bills collected from patients, whether the hospital returned the injection after the demise of patients or used it for other patients etc.

There are around 100 Covid Hospitals in the city to whom there is no direct supply of injections. If there is additional stock of injection is available then only the district administration provides injections to them. Hence the relatives are mostly of the patients undergoing treatment in such hospitals, said Mahajan adding that the administration provides injections to big hospitals like Dhoot, MGM, and others.

The district administration will conduct a detailed audit. The auditor will check the bills collected from each patient, whether they were charged for the injection, total stock of injections taken so far, number of injections used, etc, said the collector. The circular has been issued in this regard and the auditors will do their job and submit their reports soon. Presently the Covid-19 situation is under control. The administration is leaving no stone unturned to control the situation, he claimed.
