Aurangabad, Jan 24:

Sir Sayyed College organised e-seminar on Translation Studies recently. President of education society Dr Shamama Parveen inaugurated the seminar.

Dr Urmishree Bedamata (Cuttack) delivered the keynote address. She pointed out the significance of translation studies and the need for establishing centres of translation.

Dr Hameed Khan (former head, Department of English, Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University), chaired the session and discussed the pitfalls in translation.

Dr Santosh Bhoomkar, who is the former head, Department of English, S.B.College and translated Bhalchandra Nemade’s novels, Marathi poetry and Sharad Kumar Limbale’s Akkarmashi was interviewed.

Bhimrao Bhosale (Hyderabad), Dr Alka Nathrekar, Dr Mustajeeb Khan (director, Students’ Welfare, BAMU), Dr D P Suryavanshi and Dr Ajay Deshmukh participated in the discussion.

Principal Dr Shaikh Kabeer Ahmed, Dr Farhat Durrani, Mohd Ahmeduddin and Dr Uttam Ambhore (head of Department of English, Bamu) also guided the participants. Dr Nilofer Shakir and others participated. Dr Shaikh Suhel interviewed Dr Bhoomkar.
