Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:

The focus of the newly elected municipal corporators has now shifted to the standing committee, and mayor Sameer Rajurkar has convened a special meeting on March 5 at 11.30 am. During this meeting, the selection of 16 members for the committee will take place. Members will be chosen based on the proportional strength of each political party in the new civic body.

As the BJP has the largest number of corporators, eight of its members will be on the committee. This will be followed by five members from the AIMIM party, two from Shinde Sena, and one from Uddhav Sena. The position of standing committee chairman will also go to the BJP. To secure this key post, BJP aspirants have already begun intense lobbying.

Besides, nine members will be selected for each of the five subject committees in the same meeting. The Women and Child Welfare Committee will have 75 per cent female representation, meaning seven out of nine members must be women. Members will also be chosen for the Health Committee, City Improvement Committee, Education Committee, and Social Welfare Committee.
