Lakhs of devotees are expected at the Grishneshwar Temple in Ellora, one of the twelve Jyotirlingas, on Mahashivratri. To manage the rush, the stretch from Bhagwan Mahavir Chowk to Maloji Raje Bhosale Chowk has been declared a ‘No Vehicle Zone’ for 36 hours from 8 pm Saturday to 8 am Monday to ensure smooth pedestrian access to the temple.

With an estimated 5 to 6 lakh devotees likely to arrive from across the state and limited parking available in the village, vehicles are often parked along both sides of the road, causing severe congestion. District collector Deelip Swami has therefore banned all types of vehicles on this stretch, with parking arrangements made beyond both junctions.
