In the digital age, Sanjay Pawar’s home preserves the charm of the 1940s through his rare collection of 700 radios, each treated as a treasured companion. On World Radio Day, the oldest a 1940s Murphy radio symbolically recounts its journey: once the pride of living rooms with Havemahal, Amin Sayani’s voice, and songs of Rafi and Lata Mangeshkar; later replaced by television and mobiles until Pawar restored it as heritage, not scrap. Alongside 700 siblings British-era radiograms and transistors it stands witness to Partition, Independence, wars, and cricket commentaries.
