Fake birth certificate scam in Sillod

BJP leader Kirit Somaiya has alleged that around 1,100 fake birth certificates were distributed in Sillod under political pressure, using only Aadhaar cards as proof. He submitted related documents and a memorandum to Special IG Virendra Mishra and SP Dr. Vinaykumar Rathod during a detailed meeting on Thursday.

Somaiya, who is campaigning against illegal infiltrators, accused Sub-Divisional Officer Latif Pathan of approving these certificates without valid verification. He also claimed that thousands of documents linked to the scam were deliberately destroyed. Under the Right to Information (RTI) Act, it was revealed that while 65,000 birth certificates were on record, only 43,000 supporting documents were provided. The remaining 22,000 documents are missing, and Somaiya has alleged that this is a result of deliberate tampering by officials in Sillod.
