Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:

A crucial meeting was held on May 1 at a hotel in Waluj under the chairmanship of Prashant Bamb to address pending issues of affected farmers from Waluj Authority No. 3. Various demands related to land acquisition, compensation, and development of the authority area were discussed in detail.

During the meeting, farmers expressed strong dissatisfaction over stalled development works in the authority area and demanded direct cash compensation or alternative land instead of Transferable Development Rights (TDR). MLA Bamb instructed concerned officials to prioritise the resolution of farmers’ issues. He also assured that he would take up the matter with the Chief Minister to ensure that farmers receive cash compensation and that a positive decision is reached.

Focus on immediate compensation

A process was initiated during the meeting to record farmers’ preferences whether they seek TDR, cash compensation, or alternative land based on their land records (7/12 extracts). This step is expected to expedite the decision-making process.

Farmers from villages including Waluj Budruk, Waluj Khurd, Shivrai, Ramrai, Ramrai Wadi, Jogeshwari, Turkabad Kharadi, and Jalgaon participated in the meeting. As the issue directly impacts the future of farmers, the entire region is closely watching developments, with expectations of a concrete decision soon.
