Aurangabad, Jan 12:

The Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has initiated a drive to free the parking spaces which are being used for commercial purposes. Under this, a team from the AMC demolished 4 shops built in the parking lot of a building on Jalna Road on Tuesday.

The town planning department prepared a list of 39 such buildings and handed it over to the anti-encroachment department. Accordingly, the first action was taken on Saturday in the Chetan Trade Center building in front of SFS School on Jalna Road. The officials cleared 4,000 square feet of parking space. Later on Tuesday, the action was taken against Satbir Singh Chhatwal's building on Jalna road. Chhatwal had built 4 shops in parking space. The action was taken under the guidance of additional commissioner Ravindra Nikam, by assistant director of town planning Jayant Kharwadkar, Savita Sonawane, Vasant Bhoye, R S Rachtwar, Faim Hashmi, building inspector P B Gawli, Syed Jamshid, Mazhar Ali and others.
