A man was seriously injured after his friends allegedly lured him to a railway track and assaulted him with an iron rod under the pretext of an accident. The incident occurred around 10.30 pm on March 12 in the Mitmita area.

The accused have been identified as Ranjit Digambar Mule, Krishna Kaduba Mule, Anand Gangadhar Chavan and Yuvraj Machhindra Devkar. The victim, Nitin Radhakisan Jadhav (33), a resident of Mitmita, sustained serious injuries in the attack. According to police, both the accused and the victim are friends. Jadhav works as a security guard with a contractor engaged in road work on the Tisgaon Road. The group had met earlier in the evening when a dispute broke out. Later, when Jadhav returned to work, the accused approached him and told him that one of their friends had met with an accident. They then took him on a motorcycle to the railway tracks in Mitmita. Once there, Ranjit allegedly struck him on the head with an iron rod, while the others beat him with fists and kicks. The accused also threatened to kill him and throw his body on the railway tracks. Police said all the accused have been arrested, informed in-charge of Chhavani Police Station, Dr. Vivek Jadhav. Further investigation is being carried out by police sub-inspector Sachin Gadekar.
