Shinde Sena won only 12 seats in the municipal elections. Guardian Minister Sanjay Shirsat expressed disappointment and accepted responsibility for the party’s poor performance.
Both of Shirsat’s children, Harshada and Siddhant, won their wards with large margins. “My target was never just my children’s victories. I am saddened by the party’s loss more than happy about their wins,” he said. Shirsat cited internal politics, planning shortcomings, and changed caste dynamics in key wards, including the loss of traditional stronghold Gulmandi to MIM, as factors behind the defeat. Commenting on BJP’s sweeping victory, he said, “There is nothing to regret. Similar results are seen elsewhere.AIMIM winning over 25 seats was expected. In Mumbai, voters rejected the Thackeray brothers’ idea, giving the Maha-Alliance a majority.”
