Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: A 32-year-old woman was crushed to death under the wheels of a cement mixture at Shahanurmiya Dargah Chowk on Tuesday night. The deceased has been identified as Saeeda Akhil Shaikh (32, Mukundwadi) The heavy claimed another life in the city in recent times.

Saeeda was a housewife. She had gone to the Shahanurmiya Dargah area with her pharmacist friend Shaikh Mohammad Azhar on a two-wheeler to eat panipuri at 9.30 pm, on Tuesday evening. After eating it, they were going towards Beed Bypass. A speeding cement mixer hyva (MH 20 -GZ-2299) coming from Dargah Chowk hit their two-wheeler. Azhar lost control of the motorcycle due to this and Saeeda came directly under the wheels of the truck.

Even after this, the hyva driver took the vehicle forward. The woman was seriously injured. Azhar, who was thrown away, was also injured. Residents of the area rushed Saeeda to a nearby hospital. However, she died during treatment at 2 am. Based on Azhar's complaint, Jawaharnagar police registered a case against the truck driver. Assistant Inspector Atish Lohkare is investigating.

Elderly man loses leg due to tanker

Somnath Jadhav (60, Jayabhavinagar) lost his right leg due to a speeding water tanker. He was walking through Mukundwadi at 7.30 pm, on February 9. A water tanker hit an electric pole and fell on him. Jadhav's right leg had to be amputated from the thigh due to serious injuries.

Heavy vehicles ply freely in colonies and narrow roads in the city. There are no restrictions on such vehicles on the Beed Bypass either. As a result, citizens are losing their lives and the police are irresponsibly ignoring the situation.
