India- Japan can work together to reduce certain countries' monopoly in tech: Dr Ri-ichi Murakami

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: “India and Japan can work together in terms of technological development to reduce the monopoly of certain countries across the world,” said Dr Ri-ichi Murakami, a scientist and professor from the School of Mechanical Engineering, Tokushima University, Japan.

Dr Ri-ichi, who is on a three-day visit to the city to attend an international workshop and conference on ‘Advanced Materials and Innovations in Materials Science for Sustainable Future’ being hosted by the Electronics Department of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University.

He said that Japanese and Indian relations can thrive further in future.

“As part of the Sakura Science Program, talented and promising young people from overseas countries, including India, are invited directly to Japan to experience actual research laboratories and sites, and are encouraged to choose a career in science and technology and be active in research. The Japanese Government provide financial support to the initiative. Many youths are working in Information Technology companies in Japan. Both countries have many similarities in terms of culture and customes because of Buddhism,” he asserted.

Dr Ri-ichi Murakami, who is specialised in Mechanical Engineering and material properties. He said that smart components of materials are being developed. "India is growing in technological development. It will be stronger in the coming days with the support of Japan. I hope sincerely that the future cooperation between the two countries will help to achieve new milestones,” he said.

Head of the Electronics Department Dr Mahendra Shirsat, director of the Board of Examination and Evaluation Dr B N Dole and others were present in the interaction.

AI taking place of teachers gradually; no need to worry

He said that there is no doubt that Artificial Intelligence (AI) is taking teachers' positions in the education sector.

"It is gradual, so one need not worry about it. “Physical AI will help young people with deep study and research. It can also be used to detect defects in machine components,” he said.

He said that nano material is being developed to make more accurate gas sensors to facilitate society and human beings for detection. “There is more scope for research in bio-materials which can be disposed easily through bacteria,” he said.
